Weekend in Zaragoza!!

Como buenos españolitos el fin de semana es para ir de tapas y tomar algo con los amigos, y eso fue lo que hicimos. No os podeís imaginar lo que echamos de menos el ir de tapas y comer esas cosas tan ricas que hay como el jamón con chorreras en Casa Juanico!!
Y es lo que hemos podido hacer este fin de semana, nos lo pasamos muy bien, nos echamos unas risas, y pudimos disfrutar vuestra compañía. Lástima que se hiciera tan corto, porque a lo bueno uno se acostumbra muy rápido!! Gracias chicos!!

As good spaniards weekend is for tapas and going out with friends, and that's what we did. You can't imagine how much we miss this in Nottingham, such as Zaragoza has very good places for "tapeo". This weekend we tried el jamon con chorreras in Casa Juanico. This is a tapa made of ham, cheese and boiled egg coated in batter. We had fun and laugh more, and enjoy your friendship. Unfortunately it was too short, because one gets used to the good things quickly and then missed when they have gone. Thanks a lot!!

Nos vamos a Zaragoza!!

We are going to Zaragoza!!

Esta tarde a las 19:30 hemos llegado a Zaragoza de vacaciones una semanica. Teníamos muchas ganas de estar y ver a nuestras familias y amigos, y aunque siempre nos falta tiempo, intentaremos veros a todos.
El viaje ha sido un poco largo ya que volamos a Madrid y des allí hemos cogido el autobús hasta Zaragoza. Un viaje de 14 horas pero como siempre, ha merecido la pena.
Así que nada, ahora toca disfrutar no sólo de todos vosotros, sino también del tiempo y sobre todo de la comida!!!!

This evening at 7:30pm we arrived at Zaragoza for one week-off. We felt like to come here and see our family and friends. Although we always need more time, we will try to meet all of you.
The trip was a little bit too long because we flew to Madrid and then we took a bus to Zaragoza.
Finally, it was a 14-hour journey, but as always it was worthy. So that's all now we will enjoy your company, and also the weather and above all the food!!

Concert at Lee Rosy's Tea.

Peazo de concierto ayer por la noche en el Lee Rosy's Tea. Tocaba el grupo de Aaron, bueno él y un amigo suyo, junto con otros grupos. A la cita asistimos Rosa, Olivier, Ulas, Yongnan y su novia, César y María, además de familiares del muchacho. Su estilo de música es un poco dificil pero muy profunda y sentimental, podeis escuchar sus canciones en http://www.myspace.com/phantomdog. Gracias Aaron y nos vemos el 25 de Mayo en Lake Windermere.



Amazing concert at Lee Rosy's Tea yesterday night. Aaron's group played along with supporting solos. Among the public: Rosa, Olivier, Ulas, Yongnan and girlfriend, Cesar and Maria, and some relatives of our Irish folk. His music is difficult but very sincere and highly sensitive. Southwell y Newark

Southwell and Newark.

Ayer, Sábado, fuimos de excursión a Southwell y Newark con Sylvia y Sergio. Ambos pueblos están a unos 40 km de Nottingham y están muy bien para pasar el día, sobre todo Southwell, donde empezamos nuestra jornada. Primero visitamos el mercado y dimos un pequeño paseo por sus calles. Comimos en el Saracen Hotel, (http://www.saracensheadhotel.net/), bastante recomendable tanto por su comida como por la decoración. Una vez con la tripa más que llena, seguimos nuestro paseo hasta la Catedral de Southwell, que nos recibió con los ensayos para un concierto de música clásica y coral. Una pasada!! la acústica era impresionante. Después fuimos a Newark, pero ya estaba casi todo cerrado. Visitamos los jardines y lo que queda del castillo al lado del río Trent. Tenemos que volver ya que nos quedamos con las ganas de ver el mercado de la plaza y los alrededores.



Yesterday, Saturday, we went to Southwell and Newark for a short break with Sylvia and Sergio. Both villages are about 40 km from Nottingham and are very nice to have a good day, above all Southwell where we started our trip. First we visited the market and wandered around. We had lunch at The Saracen Hotel, (http://www.saracensheadhotel.net/), noteworthy food and decoration. When our bellies were full we continue our walk to The Cathedral of Southwell. We were welcome with the rehearsal for a classical music concert and chorus. Awesome!! the acustic of that place is amazing. Then we bent our steps towards Newark, but everything was nearly closed. We visited the gardens and remains of the castle beside river Trent. We must come back, because we were looking forward to visiting the market and surroundings but it wasn't to be.

Happy Birthday María,

Pues eso, que hoy día 24 de Febrero del 2008, María Llera Bagüés ha cumplido la friolera de 29 añitos que se dicen pronto. Es increible como pasa el tiempo y lo guapa que está. Cada día más.

Para celebrarlo esta mañana me ha ganado al squash, y no me he dejado, bueno no he jugado a tope, tope pero se lo ha currado mucho. En tres o cuatro partidos estaremos al mismo nivel. Luego nos hemos ido a comer-merendar al Victoria Hotel en Beeston, podeís mirar su página web en google, que es un pub donde hacen una comida estupenda y tiene mucha fama por estos lares. Hemos disfrutado de la compañía de Sergio y Sylvia, que le han regalado el último libro de John Grisham para aumentar su colección. Ahora tiene 3 en inglés, en Nottingham, y unos cuantos más en Zaragoza. En la foto la podeís ver lo guapa que está con sus nuevas All Stars, de regalo de cumpleaños.

Me quedo un poco triste porque se va a Zaragoza durante una semana. Una pena que no pueda acompañarla, cuidarmela bien y ya sabeís que estará allí esperando a veros a todos. Yo también me voy, pero más cerca a Reading para un curso de tres días.

Today is 24th February 2008, and was Maria's birthday. She is 29 years old, so simple and so long at the same time. It is incredible how fast time runs, and so pretty she is. Every day more and more beautiful.

To celebrate it, this morning she won our squash match for the first time and she played very, very well. She's improving very quickly and in three or four games, we will be in the same level. Later, we went for lunch-supper to Victoria Hotel in Beeston. It is a very nice pub, with delicious meals and a great range of local beers, is very famous at this bearings. We enjoyed the meal with Sergio and Sylvia, who have given Maria the last John Grisham's top-seller as a present. Now Maria has got 3 original Grisham's in Nottingham and several more in Spanish in Zaragoza. Below, you can see how pretty she is with her new All Star, another birthday present.

I am going to be very lonely this week, because she is going to Spain for a week. Take care of her there, my friends. I am going too, but little closer, ... to Reading just for a short 3-day course.

Domingo en Wollaton Park!!

Sunday in Wollaton Park!!

Hoy Domingo hemos ido a dar un laaaargo paseo hasta el Wollaton Park. No hacía muy buen día, de hecho, hacía bastante frio, con viento, tanto que cerrabas los ojos y parecía el cierzo!!!

Today, Sunday we went for a long walk to Wollaton Park. It was not a very nice day, in fact, it was so cold and windy that you close yours eyes and it remained us of Zaragoza.

Feliz Cumpleaños Roman!!!

Happy Birthday Roman!!

Ayer nos fuimos de fiesta a casa de Roman para celebrar su cumpleaños. Roman vive en Derby así que nos fuimos de excursión hasta allí, lo importante fue que no nos perdimos....
Además cuando llegamos nos estaban esperando entre cosas, con una mesa llena de deliciosos snacks que el cumpleañero había preparado.
Nos lo pasamos muy bien y conocimos a los dos pequeños amigos de Roman: unos hurones muy graciosos y que les gusta empinar el codo!!!
Se nos pasó el tiempo volando, tanto que perdimos el último autobús hacia Nottingham y tuvimos que volver en taxi. Pero, mereció la pena. Muchas gracias Román y que cumplas muchos más!!



Yesterday we went to Roman's to celebrate his birthday, 29!!!! Roman lives in Derby, a city just 20 km from Nottingham, so we did our weekly trip to there, and the rare point is we did not get lost. Besides, when we got there, he had prepared a table full of delicious snacks as the great host he is. We had a lot of fun and we met his two little friends, two cute ferrets which like drinking a bit!!!
Time went by so quickly, chatting, eating and drinking that we missed the last bus to Nottingham. Therefore we needed a cab to come back here, despite the generous invitation from Aaron and Roman for staying there. But, the great time and charming company we had made the party worthy. Thanks very much Roman and many more!!!
