Liverpool

Liverpool

Today, we went to Liverpool with Aaron and Andrea. Andrea wanted to see some art exhibitions and as we had not been there, rented a car and come along with them. The first thing we did was to have some snacks in the art gallery. César thinks that generally if one does not know a good place for lunch, museums and galleries are good options, as they usually are good and you can find more quality than in other options. Especially outside Spain, because the food is not so good as the Spanish one. Ok, this was not a museum, but a contemporary art centre, with a cool cinema for good and bohemian movies, art galleries and one of these cafés with free wireless internet but where it seems you can only have mac. There we spent the first two hours of our day.

Later, we headed towards the city centre and the area where the TATE is located, close to the sea. To be honest, Liverpool is more city than Nottingham, which becomes really small once you have been here for a while. It also has loads of shops and they are the same as in Nottingham, but as there are more it looks better. Besides, the city centre is all new and with many open spaces where you can relax, it must be fantastic in summer. After seeing the exhibitions at the TATE, the museum of contemporary art in Liverpool, we of course went to the Cavern, the club where The Beatles started to play. There was live music and one can notice it is a historical place. César had an enormous illusion to go there and it was worthy.

Last thing in our day, we came back to the art gallery as we did not want to bet for another place to eat, and as we liked it we came back and fill up with loads of Nachos. Then, back to Nottingham, with a very good company, Aaron as co-driver, and our wives sleeping, very calm return trip. Some photos in Picasa link.
